Cuisinart CCJ-500 Pulp Control Citrus Juicer

The Cuisinart CCJ-5050 Pulp Control Citrus Juicer has an Auto-Reversing Cone that makes it really efficient. Simply put the fruit on the reamer and push down. When you release and push down again, it rotates in the opposite direction. This reversing action gets all the juice out and is so effective that it can pull the fruit out of the rind.

You can use any size citrus fruit with this juicer and get the same great results. The juice runs down an extra long spout so there’s no dripping when it goes into your cup. Seeds and pulp are separated so there’s less risk of clogs. The pulp management feature on this juicer is one thing that makes it stand out from the others. The reamer has three different settings for low, medium, and high pulp.

Just twist it to the appropriate setting and you’ll get just the right amount. It’s also a breeze to clean because parts are dishwasher safe. It has a small footprint and a stainless steel design that looks nice on any kitchen counter. It’s also available in a few colors so you can match it to the rest of your kitchen decor.

Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless-Steel Motorized Citrus Press

Another gorgeous stainless steel juicer that would look great in your kitchen, the Breville 800CPXL is an efficient and effective option. The die-cast Quadra-Fin cone is designed to get maximum juice out of everything from limes to grapefruits. This reamer has four fins that are effective enough to strip the fruit down to the peel.

The arm is ergonomically designed and covered in soft rubber so you can make a glass of fresh juice for everyone in your family quickly and without any pain or fatigue in your hand or arm. The quiet motor automatically extracts pulp and juice into the stainless steel filter basket, allowing the juice and a small amount of pulp to strain through while keeping the seeds and large pieces of fruit out of your glass.

If you don’t like any pulp, there’s an addition filter basket you can buy that has a finer strainer for less pulp. Clean up is easy. The juicing components are removable and dishwasher safe. It’s only inches in diameter, the perfect size for your countertop or to be easily stored in your cabinet.

Eurolux Stainless Steel Citrus Juicer

The Eurolux Stainless Steel Citrus Juicer has a tip-up spout that makes sure there’s no mess, drips, or spills when it’s filling up your glass. The 160W motor is powerful without making too much noise. In fact, you can even use it right at the breakfast table without worrying about disrupting your family. Suction cups are located in the bottom to prevent the juicer from moving around and to keep it stable.

There are no buttons or controls with this citrus juicer, just a simple stop/start control that works by simply placing your fruit on the reamer and pressing down on the lever. When you’re done, just lift the lever and the reamer will stop spinning so you can add the next piece of fruit. The reamer is universal so you don’t have to swap anything out when you move from small to large fruits. It has a nice sized filter so you can get a lot of juice before it needs emptying. The brushed metal housing is easy to wipe clean and looks sleek and stylish on your countertop.

How we picked and tested

There are plenty of product roundups but we found no pre-existing research on the best qualities of the humble drinking glass, so we did two things: We researched the materials glasses are made out of, and we called up an expert glassblower.

Zachary Rudolph, an instructor at the Bay Area Glass Institute, told us a great glass “can’t be too wide because you want to be able to get your hand around it. It should feel nice in your hand. It shouldn’t be too heavy and when you bring it to your mouth to drink, your lips should just fit right around the rim, and it shouldn’t get in the way of your nose. You also want a nice thick bottom so when you set it down it’s not going to slide off the table.” Many of us have probably seen a lightweight glass hydroplane across a wet table, so this makes sense.

Through research we also decided that a perfect all-purpose drinking vessel should be made of tempered glass, a process that heats and cools the glassware in a way that makes it more durable and break-resistant (read more about that here). And when it does break, it does so in a less dangerous manner than untreated glass, crumbling into dull bits (relatively speaking – it’s still glass), as opposed to shards. This is what a kitchen needs!

We narrowed down the field with these criteria and ruled out restaurant options, like these Anchor Hocking glasses, because no matter where you look for them they’re only available in packs of 32.

A thin-walled, thick-bottomed Schott Zwiesel bar glass was heavy enough to shatter a stone tile.

Pull Quote

Duralex is the heritage brand; they’re the Pendleton, Filson, or Heath Ceramics of glassware.

Our favorite all-purpose glass is the Duralex Picardie because using it feels great. But it also has less abstract qualities that make it ideal tableware—it’s made of shatter-resistant tempered glass, it’s lightweight enough that lifting it isn’t a chore, it stacks in cabinets, and it fits in the dishwasher.  In the pantheon of drinking vessels, Duralex is the heritage brand; they’re the Pendleton, Filson, or Heath Ceramics of glassware. They also happen to perform better than anything else out there.

Flaws but not dealbreakers

Glass can still break. After all, it’s glass. The fact that we can drop it, heat it, chill it, bump it, topple it, jam it in the dishwasher, toast with it, chuck it in cabinets, and pound it onto a table over and over again for years is kind of an everyday miracle.

The Bormioli Rocco Rock Bar glasses survived all but the most extreme of our drop tests and they are lightweight, dishwasher-safe, and extremely compact when stacked. In fact, they were our former top pick, but over time we’ve come to notice how important the extra attention to detail is on the Picardie.

You can verify your purchase by checking for the logo on the bottom.

Of the four glasses that survived the most extreme drop, two of them were from Bormioli. So if you have finished concrete floors in your house and bump this off a table, there’s a good chance it’ll survive.

Care and maintenance

Though we stress-tested our glasses, tempered glass isn’t meant to withstand extreme hot/cold temperature changes, so try to avoid abusing glasses that way. Porcelain and stoneware are better at handling hot liquids, so put your daily cup of coffee in those.

Masticating Juicers

A masticating juicer uses gears or augers to chew down food and break up cells releasing enzymes, fiber, vitamins etc. These juicers are highly efficient and they can process a lot of food because the pulp always comes out drier. Moreover, a masticating juicer with a single gear can churn through anything you put in it. It works great with grass, leaves and juicy vegetables too.

One more benefit of a masticating juicer is the low RPM speeds. Because of the extremely low juicing speed, this kind of juicer maintains the nutritional value of the juice. In fact, you can store juice for longer as it produces less heat and foam. Masticating juicers are versatile too. They can be used to homogenize foods such as nut butter, pates, sauces, baby food, fruit sorbet, ice creams and more.

You have a choice between single gear and twin gear masticating juicers. While single auger designs are compact, upright and space saving, they aren’t the most efficient or economical machines around. On the other hand, a twin gear juicer also called as triturating juicer is expensive but it has dual gears rotating at even slower RPM thus extracting more juice and preserving even more nutritional value of the juice. Basically, the juice produced by twin gear augers has a longer shelf life. This juicer squeezes the last drop out of anything you put inside. You can read our in depth reviews on masticating juicers here.

Centrifugal Juicers

Juicing in a hurry, preparing fresh juice for the breakfast table are the benefits of a centrifugal juicer. In fact, this is the popular kind of juicer seen in the market because they are inexpensive, effective and moderately efficient. Majority of centrifugal juicers come with one year warranty and are suitable for fruits and vegetables.

Centrifugal juicers are great at saving time and energy. They can process a large amount of juice from just about anything. Wheatgrass, lettuce, parsley, spinach, greens are easy to process but you won’t get the same amount of yield as with a masticating juicer. These juicers use centrifugal force by first grating the fruit or veggie into a soggy pulp and then forcing it against a strainer screen at high RPM to squeeze the juice out.

A few juicers come with large enough feed chutes that let you add in whole foods directly without the need to process or cut them up into tiny pieces. However, majority of centrifugal juicers use an oval feed chute that need some amount of preparation. You can read our in depth reviews on centrifugal juicers here.

Welcome To The World Of Juicing

Juicing has become a major trend throughout the world over the past few years. This healthy way to ingest fruits and vegetables is taking the health industry (and the average Joe) by storm.

Trainers, athletes, professionals and families alike have begun to juice everything from to apples to carrot in an effort to embrace a healthier lifestyle.

As an alternative to buying drinks from a juice bar or café, more and more consumers are purchasing juicers for their homes so they can take advantage of all of what juicing has to offer on a daily basis at a more reasonable cost.

This is my Juicer Buying Guide which will help you pick the perfect type of juicer for your life and needs.

Masticating Juicers

Getting ready to buy yourself a masticating juicer? Not sure which one will best suits your needs and budget? No problem, we’ve got all our masticating juicer listed below. Known for producing better quality juice across a wider range of fruits and vegetables, masticating juicers are the preferred choice for enthusiasts everywhere.

Triturating Juicers

Triturating juicers are the workhorses of the juicing industry. With dual augers they squeeze every bit of liquid out of the fiber from produce; yielding the best possible juice. Pulp comes out as dry as it can get, but triturating juicers tend to be more expensive than cheaper masticating or centrifugal ones. Find out what are the top models–here.

The Centrifugal Juicer

The most common juicer on the market right now is the centrifugal juicer. To use this model, you would place the fruits or vegetables down a chute into a basket with tiny teeth that spins. The teeth with grind the food into a soft texture while it spins.

Then, because it is spinning so fast the juice will be extracted from the solid food and drained out of the juicer into a cup. The leftover pieces of the fruits and vegetables end up in a pulp dispenser so they can be thrown away or used for another purpose.

The Masticating Juicer

A masticating juicer works a little bit different from both these other juicers. In this machine, food is pushed into a chute that has a slow-moving blade powered by a motor. Instead of spinning the food, it is “chewed” into mush then pushed down to release the juice.

There are plenty of masticating juicer types: you could buy a horizontal masticating juicer or a vertical model which is a little easier to feed.

The Triturating Juicer

Two gears (twin-gear), instead of one, gets you the triturating juicer. Twin-gear action rotates inward with a tiny gap for grinding and pulverizing fruits and veggies. Throughout this process, the juice is released and collected.

The gears rotate slowly so the structure of the cells is not disrupted and oxidized. Soft produce can easily be juiced in this type of device but harder vegetables like carrots can be challenging as food has to be pushed into the machine.

A variety of attachments are available for this type of juicer including pulp output controls or a pasta-making spout. You will get more juice from your produce when using a twin-gear, triturating juicer than if you use a one-gear, masticating juicer.

We are what we can absorb!

Fresh vegetable juices supply you with a huge amount of nutrients that your body needs. Nutrients that are more easily and readily absorbed into your blood stream, and feeds all 50 trillion cells in your body. This means every single organ in your body can perform at their best!

Drinking a vegetable juice is like taking a multivitamin!

The results that can you can expect from daily juicing can be:

Grocery Shopping

It is best to buy organic fruits and vegetables when juicing. Conventionally grown produce is filled with pesticides, germicides, and herbicides. You don’t want to be pouring in MORE toxins as you are trying to get rid of toxins. It almost defeats the purpose of what you’re trying to accomplish!

We know that buying organic foods can be more pricey. Depending on your budget, DO THE BEST THAT YOU CAN AFFORD.

Stick to the guideline in the chart below to prioritize. Focus on buying the foods that are listed as “dirty” organic. Celery and leafy vegetables, such as kale, are grown on the ground and therefore more exposed to the pesticide sprays. I always buy organic celery and kale. I don’t always buy organic cucumber (unless it’s on sale or available at the farmer’s market) because I can peel the skin off. Same with pineapples.A good rule of thumb is: the thicker the skin, the more the toxins.

You can pretty much juice all different types of vegetables and fruits. I would recommend starting out with: cucumber

Celery and cucumber make a good base since they are easy to digest and are more palatable. They also yield a lot of liquids! watermelon asparagus

There are endless combinations of fruits and vegetables you can use to juice. However, it is ideal to have a higher ratio of vegetable. Vegetables are the most nutrient dense and best thing you can put in your body.

Steeping Your E-Juice

Steeping your E-Juice is similar to letting a good wine age, and will typically bring out a deeper and smoother flavor over time. Shake your E-Juice well before steeping to make sure the mixture is completely homogenized. If your E-Juice flavor is on the strong side, you can remove the top cap and let the bottle breathe a bit to mellow the flavor. If your E-Juice flavor is on the weaker side, leave the top cap on and place the bottle in a dark cool place for a couple days or a full week. The last option is placing your E-Juice bottle in a warm water bath and repeating the process a few times once the water becomes room temperature.

The Reason Behind Dark E-Juice

As E-Juice in a bottle ages, it will darken over time due to nicotine oxidation. The percentage of nicotine in your E-Juice also plays a large role as to how dark the E-Juice initially appears. Certain flavors or extracts can also tend to make your E-Juice darker. If you notice your E-Juice getting darker in your tank while you are vaping, this is most likely happening due to the wick and coil becoming caramelized and staining your E-Juice in the tank a darker color. This can also occur if your tank is getting hot between your vaping sessions and accelerating the nicotine oxidation process that would normally occur over time naturally.

E-Juice Storage Practices

E-Juice is extremely sensitive to light and heat, and both will speed up the process of nicotine oxidation. Storing your E-Juice bottles in a dark cool dry place will slow this process down and preserve the original flavor longer. Extreme temperature changes can also affect E-Juices in a negative way, so don’t leave them in your car on extremely hot or cold days. For long term storage, you can safely store your E-Juice bottles in your refrigerator until you’re ready to vape them. Last but not least, glass bottles seem to be better than plastic for long term storage of your favorite E-Juice.

Performance

A juicer cups ability to fulfill its function to the best is an essential factor to be considered before purchase. The performance of a juicer cup is mainly determined by its motor power and the innovation put to it. The amount of power needed to run the cup will depend on the type of ingredients you intend to use. Consider whether to use organic or conventional foods or if you plan on using fruits and vegetables. The truth is that most juicing cups tend to remain very basic and may not allow you experiment much with ingredients. However, even for basic on the go juicing, you still want a juicer cup that provides you with refreshing drinks with less hassle.

Other features to help you determine the performance of a juicer cup include blade type, speed and overall construction.

Construction and Materials

Get a juicer cup that promises to be durable and safe for use. The construction and the materials used of the cup should be up the mark to ensure that the cup does not spill or damage prematurely. All parts should fit together well and be made from food grade materials to ensure they do not react with foods. A well-built cup will perform optimally and save you the cost of repairs or replacements.

Additional Features

Juicer cups may include extra features for efficiency and convenience. This may include safety features to protect you or the machine from damage and others such as functioning as a power bank, having waterproof parts, battery indicator, and reduced charging time. Additional features may not greatly influence the performance of juicer cup that they make the experience for the user more friendly.

What We Love

The beautiful packaging these straws come in is a huge plus, and each bag is made from natural fibers, so you won’t have to worry about compromising your eco-friendly pledge. The bag also makes it easy to keep track of your straws, so they don’t wind up hidden or lost in your kitchen drawers.

What We Didn’t Like

The completely natural state of these bamboo straws means they cannot be placed in the dishwasher. To care for your Buluh straws, you must hand-wash them with warm, soapy water and the included cleaning brush, and air dry on a drying rack.

Elemental Home All Natural Bamboo Drinking Straws, Set of 12

Elemental Home’s bamboo drinking straws come in packs of twelve, perfect for large families or frequent entertainers.

The bamboo straws are approximately eight inches long and contain no BPAs or harsh chemicals.

They can be used with hot or cold beverages, and come with two Nylon cleaning brushes that can reach down into the middle of the straws.

The exteriors of the straws have been polished, so you’ll have less of a chance of them splintering and cracking while you or your loved ones are drinking from them. These straws also have a relatively wide diameter, making them perfect for smoothies and milkshakes.

Diameter

Ever struggled to drink a thick shake through a small, narrow straw?

Then you’ll understand the importance of choosing the right diameter of straw to use with your beverages.

For thicker beverages like smoothies, milkshakes, and slushies, you’ll want to choose a wider straw that will allow you to slurp up even the thickest of blended treats. However, if you’re only planning to use your straws with thin beverages like water, tea, or juice, a thin, narrow straw will perfectly serve your needs.

If you’re not sure, or you drink everything from water to milkshakes with a straw, it’s better to err on the thicker side – going too thin will create a struggle when you want to consume blended drinks, and will result in frustration and exhaustion.

Material

When it comes to bamboo straws, there are usually two “types” – a paper straw that is often printed with a bamboo design, or an actual piece of bamboo that has been cut to a certain length.

To get the best bang for your buck, I suggest avoiding the paper straws all together and always opting for the natural bamboo stalk when you can.

Paper straws are not reusable, so you have to keep using a new one every time you drink and will wind up tossing out the used straw. Even though paper is biodegradable, why generate more trash if you don’t have to?

Plus, many of the paper/fiber straws use inks and dyes, which are just unnecessary additions when you can opt for an actual piece of bamboo, as opposed to something that looks like one.

Buying just a few real bamboo stalks that you can use over and over is about as sustainable as you can get.

Bamboo straws usually come in two finishes – they can be treated, polished, and cured, to create a durable, hard exterior that can be placed in the dishwasher, or you can opt for a completely untreated straw that consists just of the natural fibers.

If you’re looking for as natural an option as possible, you can choose untreated and unpolished bamboo, but remember that these will not last as long as straws that have been cured and polished.

Additionally, unfinished bamboo straws are best suited for adult-only homes, or households with older children, as the untreated bamboo will crack and splinter over time, and could potentially cause injuries.

The finish will also dictate how you clean the straws. If you’re looking for straws that can be placed in the dishwasher, choose only those that have been finished, as untreated bamboo will deteriorate quickly in the dishwasher.

Many bamboo drinking straw sets come with one or two nylon cleaning brushes, which usually consist of a head of bristles on the end of a long wire rod.

These brushes are inserted into the straws and used to scrape away any stuck-on bits from your beverage. If you have a set of wider straws meant for thick drinks, you may be able to get away with a set that does not come with a brush, as you can probably get the majority of gunk out with some warm, soapy water.

However, the inclusion of a brush is extremely important if you’re opting for thin, narrow straws, as they can be difficult to clean without getting in there and scrubbing.

You’ll also want to think about the type of beverage you’re usually drinking. A thick smoothie with greens and chia seeds is more likely to need a brush for cleaning, while hot tea or soda doesn’t leave much residue behind.

If you’re planning to use these as a primary smoothie straw, definitely look for a set with a brush, so you prevent bacteria from growing in your reusable straw.

Android

Android dominates worldwide smartphone sales, and for good reason. You’ll find many more choices than iOS when it comes to design, display size, specs, capabilities and price. Plus, Android is an open OS, which means it’s easier to customize with

Screen Size

Although bigger screens are in vogue, you’ll still find a wide variety of display sizes. And size is only part of the story, as narrower aspect ratios are making big-screen phones easier to use with one hand.

Small Screen (Inches or Smaller) are compact and powerful.

Google Pixel XL

When it comes to video, pay attention not just to the resolution but also the frame rate. 4K at 60 frames per second is considered cutting edge. But the stability of that footage is also key, so look for lenses that offer optical (and not digital) stabilization.

If possible, test the phone you plan to buy to make sure it captures images quickly enough; some midrange and lower-end phones suffer from lag. And if you plan to shoot a ton of photos and video, look for a handset with a microSD card slot.

Processor

A good processor inside a phone should translate to faster open times for apps, smoother gameplay and quicker photo editing, but you don’t have to pay attention to cores or clock speed. It’s better to look at the performance results in our reviews, such as Geekbench, which measures overall performance, as well as real-world tests we run.

The Apple iPhone X features the powerful A1Bionic processor.

Right now the fastest mobile chip (by far) is Apple’s A1Bionic processor, which is inside the iPhone X, iPhone and iPhone Plus. For example, the A1took only 4seconds to edit a 4K video, compared with nearly minutes for the Pixel and more than minutes for the Galaxy S8+.

Internal Storage

Given that some games can easily take up more than 1GB of storage — not to mention how many high-res photos and videos smartphone owners are capturing — we highly recommend opting for as much internal storage as possible.

A microSD card can help expand your storage. It’s available on many Android phones, but Apple’s phones don’t offer this option.

Battery Life

Many factors — including the screen size, processor and operating system — determine how long a smartphone lasts on a charge. However, shoppers looking for the longest endurance possible should check out our list of battery-life champs

We consider any phone that lasts longer than hours of straight 4G LTE surfing to be very good.

Fast Charging

If you want to be able to juice your phone up in a hurry, check to see whether your phone offers fast wireless charging. For instance, Google says the Pixel will give you hours of power in just 1minutes. If you’re shopping for an Android phone, you might check that it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 (or an earlier version of the standard).

Removable Battery

Removable batteries have fallen out of favor with most smartphone-makers, especially with more users demanding water resistance. But there are some benefits to this kind of design. Once your existing battery stops holding a charge for as long as it did when it was fresh, you can just swap in a new one without having to pay for a replacement service or a new phone.

ZTE Blade V8

Thanks to Face ID in the iPhone X, and the face scanning and iris scanning in Samsung’s devices, facial recognition is starting to gain momentum. We’ve found Face ID in particular to be reliable in bright sunlight and in the dark, but it’s

Smaller Discount Carriers

The disadvantages of going with a smaller prepaid carrier include a more limited selection of smartphones (in most cases) and paying full price for the handset. While MetroPCS, Boost and Virgin matched the performance of their parent networks in our testing — Boost and Virgin are Sprint subsidiaries — Cricket’s 4G speeds are notably slower than parent company AT&T’s. And carriers reserve the right to deprioritize prepaid traffic if there’s a lot of congestion on their network.

Glass vs Plastic Jar Blender

Plastic pitchers are more popular with blender manufacturers nowadays because they are shatterproof and tested to withstand the high speeds of modern blenders. Therefore, blenders with glass pitchers will typically have less power.

Why Does Vitamix use Plastic Containers? stainless steel jar from Waring

They also do not contain BPA compound which is found in some plastic products. BPA is said to pose some health risks, although the FDA continues to say BPA is not hazardous.  Most blender companies including Vitamix, Blendtec, and Ninja use a BPA-free high-impact plastic called Eastman Tritan. For more on the BPA free debate you can read this article and this study. Since you are here, I assume you have already decided on buying a glass, BPA free blender.

The above reasons are driving some consumers to the glass pitcher varieties. While the choices are more limited, there are some excellent blenders with glass jars on the market. This article will help you choose the best model that combines functionality and meets all the requirements below.

Amount of Power

Many glass container blenders have lower power because of the concern that glass is not completely shatterproof. Therefore, there is a tendency by manufacturers to make glass container blenders with a low power rating to avoid potential cracking of the pitcher.

In this regard, many glass blenders are less than 500-700 Watts of power which can be under-powered for certain blending tasks such as making nut butter and  pureeing hard ingredients(raw vegetables, nuts, seeds).

Centrifugal Juicers

Centrifugal juicers are common, and they are also among the most popular. Like the Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus that Joe Cross used in his documentary, Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, these juicers quickly transform fruit and vegetables into tasty, nutritious beverages.

The Pros

Who doesn’t love a bargain? In most cases, centrifugal juicers cost less than triturating juicers and masticating juicers. While it is true that there are some centrifugal juicers that cost more, the cheapest juicers on the market also happen to be centrifugal juice extractors.

Centrifugal juicers are fast. If you are very busy and have just a few minutes to spend juicing each day, a centrifugal juicer might be ideal for you.

Most centrifugal juicers can handle large pieces of fruit and whole vegetables, making for less preparation time and adding even more convenience.

The Cons

Many people appreciate the speed with which centrifugal juicers work, but there are a few common issues to be aware of. First, the juice that emerges is typically covered in lightweight foam. Some manufacturers get around this by incorporating foam skimmers into the juice pitchers that come with their juice extractors. Some don’t feel the foam is a problem, and to be fair, many consumers like its creamy texture and sip it happily. Others just stir it into their glasses.

Second, people who are on raw food diets tend to steer clear of centrifugal juicers, as these extractors generate a small amount of heat that is transferred to the finished product. While it does not cook the juice, it does contribute to oxidation in some cases. This can cause the juice’s color to change, and it can destroy some of the enzymes in the fruits and vegetables. The juice is still nutritious, filled with vitamins, and full of powerful antioxidants, but is not considered optimal for anyone following a raw diet.

The Takeaway

If you’re on a budget or have a limited amount of time to juice, you will probably appreciate a centrifugal juicer. You’ll reap plenty of health benefits along the way. The Cuisinart CJE-1000 Juice Extractor is a good entry level product, as is the Hamilton Beach 67650A Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor. Breville’s centrifugal juicers offer a step up from these models.

Know Where Your E-Juice Is Made

Some questions to ask are a. Does the e-juice company have a website identifying where it’s made and mixed? b. Are all e-juice ingredients extracted and produced in an ISOclean room? c. Does the website provide pictures of the facility and who is behind the scenes or is it just a generic stock photo?

Pro Tip: It’s scary knowing there are e-juices mixed in uncontrolled environments that can easily contaminate the juice you’re ultimately buying and consuming.

Ask your retailer if they’ve visited the lab or have done their due diligence in verifying each e-juice vendor they’re carrying. Find out if they have a personal relationship or just buy generic. Everything matters, and you need to know as much as possible about a juice’s background and pedigree before purchasing.

Think of your e-juice as a fine wine. If you’ve ever heard of people buying specific wines because they’re produced in Italy, Australia, Spain, Greece, France, or NorCal, you understand how small changes can affect flavor, aroma, and overall effect.

Choose Glass over Plastic

In the past years, there has been a steady transition from plastic to glass bottles, and with good reason(s.) a) Plastic bottles may contain harmful chemical compounds such as BPA.b) Glass bottles are easily sterilized before going into e-juice production.c) Glass bottles has longer shelf life.d) Glass bottles can be easily recycled, and are more environmentally friendly.

Pro Tip: Reputable Vape shop owners listen to their customers. As a customer, let them know that you will only buy glass over plastic. In this particular instance, money talks, especially if you’re a repeat customer. Vape shop owners know it’s a crowded marketplace and when you buy glass, they’ll stock glass.

Childproof caps

This is an absolute must. There has been at least one case of an accidental death when a 1-year-old child from New York ingested a bottle of vape juice. This may have been prevented if a childproof cap was on that bottle.

The tragedy impacted the state of NY to the point that all vape shops had to make sure that all e-juice carried in their store had to have a childproof cap. In order to protect Vaping, we must be held accountable and take steps to reduce harm.

Volcano Digit Vaporizer

Considered by some as the world’s first home vaporizer, Volcano is arguably the most unit for vaping both concentrates and herbs by Sortz and Bickel, launched in the early 2000s. You might still see some of those old units kicking around. In 2007, they released the digital version that replaced the rotary dial with a big LED screen and two buttons. This vaporizer is as sturdy as a tank (because of the stainless steel and very high-quality plastic construction) and is ideal for medicinal use, let’s see how well built it is and how it performs.

While the major difference between the analog and digital version is the different interface, but the Volcano Digit also has an automatic shut-off feature as well as lets you vape as low as 104°F while the older one will not let you go below 266°F. Although this might not be a big deal for cannabis users, those who vape other herbs or essential oils such as BHO or Bubble Hash You can go as high as 446°F, but in my personal experience, you get the best vapor between 350°F and 380°F.

When it comes to performance, the desktop vape is solid as a brick and works like a horse. You can get huge plumes of vapor, the flavor is extremely smooth, and the flavor is also decent. Because of the terpenes – chemicals released by plants that cause smell and flavor – can condense in the bag if the vapor sights there for a while, the overall flavor can diminish as the time passes. However, we have never seen smoother flavor as produced by Volcano Digit. Therefore, it is ideal for people who use cannabis for medicinal use, as they do not get the harsh taste and yet get all the benefits.

The device is so amazing that we can write a book-long review on it. To sum it up, it offers immense reliability, great durability, fantastic vapor quality at little to no maintenance. The vape can be a great device for vaping in groups, despite the comparatively higher price tag, longer heat up time and the somewhat noisy air pump.

Vapor Cup Vaporizer

Vapor Cup Vaporizer is not a plugin desktop vaporizer, but its massive size brings it to the category of the table top vaporizer. It looks just like a coffee mug and can be used anywhere without fear of being castigated. Yes, there is an OLED display and three buttons, but you can cover it with a protective sleeve for the complete incognito mode. Made of metal and having a decent-sized footprint, the device is heavy and feels sturdy.

Vapor Cup Vaporizer comes with one plastic stem, one glass stem, one flexible rubber tube, and one traditional looking mouthpiece. We found that the glass stem produced the cleanest and coolest flavor. Depending on the straw you use, the mechanism to pack the herbs is slightly different. Also, using different temperature levels require a little know-how of vaporizers. So, there is a slight learning curve. Moreover, that is the only little moan we have against the Vapor Cup. Other than that, everything from vapor quality to build quality to fast heat-up time to 2-hour battery is commendable.

Silver Surfer Vaporizer

Once the best desktop vaporizer, Silver Surfer has fallen down the list by the new entrants, but it still can be the best pick depending on your vaping needs – especially if you are not a big fan of bag vaporizers. It is a whip-style desktop vape with a pretty ordinary design, but its performance is fairly commendable. It gets extra points for being a multi-purpose vape, as you can vape oils as well as waxes in addition to dry herbs.

Advertised as the only table vaporizer with all ceramic heating chamber, the Silver Surfer ensures the cleanest flavor from your herbs. Not to mention, the ceramic chamber is also comparatively easier to clean. It takes just under five minutes to heat up, which is slightly longer than most other vaporizers in the same class.

Vapolution Vaporizer

Because of some of its unique features, the Vapolution Vaporizer is one of my favorite home vaporizers. First and foremost, it is the only desktop vaporizer that features a 100% glass air path – no other materials will come in contact with your vapor at all. What this means for you is clean, crisp, and smooth flavor. However, the list of unique features goes on, and it is one of the very few if not the only desktop vape that can accept herbs in bud form. Yes, you read that right, you do not have to grind the herbs at all and still can expect the same great flavor. This is an amazing feature that I have never seen elsewhere and – being a lazy soul – this is what seals the deal for me.

Da Buddha Vaporizer

The design of Da Buddha is simple yet elegant. It can be the ideal starting device, especially if you are switching from portables and buying your first desktop vape. Although offering intense heat of up to 380°F within no time, the aluminum coating keeps the outer body cold – though be careful touching the glass which can get hot as it is touching the heating element.

The only issue with Da Buddha is that you have to grind the herbs very fine, pack the wand with about quarter inch weed to get the best experience. Cleaning the vape is very easy, especially if you do it regularly. The overall unit is ideal in size and isn’t too heavy. All in all, the cons of the vape outweigh its pros, and it deserves a firm thumbs up.

Life Saber Vaporizer

Another masterpiece by 7th floor, the Light Saber Vaporizer (LSV) is an interesting model. Just like the Plenty vaporizer, it is a handheld table top vaporizer that offers an insane amount of vapor and flavor from your botanicals.

The LSV has an all glass vapor path and ceramic heating chamber for crisp, clean vapor. Most other handheld desktop vaporizers have a small cord, which can be a pain in the neck, but the LSV’s feet power cable lets you roam around the room freely with your vape.

One of the very few downsides to the LSV is that it offers a little too much heat, plus there is no digital display. There is just an analog knob that lets you control the temperature and setting it too high can result in combustion of the herbs. The device is very simple, easy to use, and easy to clean, and also the price is not that bad. The vapor quality is good, and the device is virtually unbreakable.

Forced Air Vaporizers or Balloon Vaporizers

These are the more common, more expensive, and more advanced type of desktop vaporizers. They utilize a fan that propels extremely hot air through the herbs. A balloon bag then collects vaporized herb vapor.

Some new desktop vaporizers below air directly into a whip attachment instead of the balloon bag, and let you inhale the vapor directly. These are called dual-function forced air vaporizers as they also contain a balloon bag. These vaporizers result in a perfect vapor stream which can be either inhaled directly through the whip or collected in a balloon bag.

Despite being the more expensive type, the balloon desktop vaporizers are becoming increasingly popular because of their vapor quality and ease of use. While most whip vaporizers offer a quick and simple way of vaping your herbs, however, they cannot match the vapor quality or quantity produced by their more advanced and Powerful counterparts i.e. forced air vapes.

It is one of the best portable vaporizers for dry herb and concentrates, especially when it comes to clean flavor. You can adjust the temperature between 300 and 43degrees Fahrenheit. The ceramic chamber ensures clean, crisp flavor and the extended battery life makes it ideal for long vaping sessions.

The Matrix lets you control the temperature to reach your ideal flavor – which depends on the material and also on how finely ground are your herbs. The innovative technology evenly vaporizes herbs and ensures nothing goes un-vaped. Whether it is dry herbs or wax, it works equally well.

The OLED display is comparatively small and can be hard to read in sunlight, but it gets the job done. The build quality and chamber’s capacity are impressive. Although some people have complained that the price is on the higher side, however, considering the performance and the ability to vape multiple mediums, we believe it is worth every cent and deserves the third spot on our list.

Juicing Tips

Wondering how to store fresh juice…and keep it fresh?

Ideally, fresh juice should be consumed within 20 minutes of juicing. But most of us have busy schedules and it is quite nice to be able to take fresh juice on the go, whether to the office, the gym, or wherever else your happy feet take you.

Here are some tips on how to store your juice for maximum freshness.

Organic produce is generally better for juicing, especially since you can leave all the nutrition-rich peels on. But it’s especially important if you’re planning to store your juice. Organic produce starts out with higher levels of nutrient content and since juice storage minimizes some of the nutrition in juices, it’s best to start out with more!

If you can’t buy all organic, we highly recommend at least buying these Dirty Dozen fruits and veggies from the organic section.

How long fresh juice lasts depends on the juicer that you’re using. Centrifugal juicers operate at high speeds, introducing heat and oxidation into the juicing process, which compromises the freshness of the juice.

Juices made with centrifugal juicers can be stored, but it’s honestly not recommended if you want to take advantage of the nutrients before serious oxidative damage occurs. Even after a few hours, juices made with centrifugal juicers will start tasting a little different from when they were immediately juiced, even when stored following all the juice storing tips listed below. Drink as soon as possible!

On the other hand, slow juicers like masticating or triturating juicers work at very slow speeds with little-to-no heat, which means less oxidation in the juicing process. As a result, juices made with slow juicers have a higher shelf life and can retain their nutritional potency for up to 7hours. So if you plan to juice in bulk and store the juice – get a slow juicer!

It’d be great if we could just re-use water or milk bottles to store fresh juice, but thin plastic containers allow rapid oxidation.

The best containers for juicing are glass. Here are our top picks:

KERR JUICE JARS

As soon as you juice, immediately pour the juice into the glass canning jars above, making sure you leave very little airspace at the top. Try to aim for about mm of airspace.

When you go to seal the jar, some of the juice will probably squirt out, which is good since it minimizes the airspace in the jar. Just rinse the sides of the jar.

Refrigerate immediately.

When you’re ready to take it with you, opt for a “freezer tote” to keep your juices cool.

Also, once you open the stored juice jar, drink the contents all at once to avoid the oxidative damage that will happen from the airspace above the remaining juice. For this reason, even if it’s slightly more cumbersome, you should aim to store juice in smaller jars (oz. to 1oz. at the most) so you can drink all of its contents as soon as you’ve opened it. free book of healthy juice rECIPES?
